Turning Despair Into Discovery
“I was hopeless and lost and then I began to discover our history.
Now I'm in awe of what our community has overcome, and I'm determined to share it with the world.”
— Kris Fitzgerald, Creator
Why TWiQH Exists
I grew up not knowing about Marsha P. Johnson, Harvey Milk, or Sylvia Rivera. I didn't learn about the AIDS crisis in school. I didn't know that queer people have been making history for centuries.
When I finally started learning, something shifted. The hopelessness I had carried for so long began to lift. Our history is full of people who organized, fought back, and built something extraordinary out of nothing. Their stories gave me a purpose.
TWiQH exists because our history is not just a record of what happened. It is a playbook for what is possible. Young queer people deserve to know they come from a lineage of courage, creativity, and resilience. And learning about the tactics and strategies of those who came before us is how we keep making progress.
