They Burned the World's First Trans Clinic

What stays with me from this episode is the image of someone reaching into the ashes and pulling out Hirschfeld's statue bust. The Institut für Sexualwissenschaft had just been ransacked and burned by Nazi students, and in the middle of that devastation, someone stopped. They thought about what mattered. They took a risk to save something.

That kind of small act of resistance is easy to overlook in the sweep of history, but I think it's actually the most human part of the story. Bullies want you to feel powerless. They want the destruction to feel total. And someone decided it wasn't. That's what I carry with me from this one.
