On this day in 1993, Rev. Troy Perry joined 1,500 same-sex couples in a mass wedding at the third March on Washington. Twenty thousand lesbians also joined the Dyke March to the White House, the largest lesbian demonstration ever.

On this day, Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner told Diane Sawyer, 'Yes, for all intents and purposes, I'm a woman,' publicly beginning her transition to Caitlyn Jenner.
